bonne chose - 'good thing' - someone or something doing good. A person of praise, conscious company or beautiful-wonderful-super duper brand
My first newsletter will feature someone who I natter on about constantly and have a full time girl crush on. Lauren Singer is a 20 something year old New Yorker who lives a zero waste, package-free, practically waste-free and surely sin-free life. She was totally the catalyst for me to look at adopting a more conscious way of life.
Lauren's action came to lots of peoples attention through snag-line/image of the waste she had amounted over 2 years fitting in a 16oz Mason Jar (a typically sized pickle jar to us English folke..!). Her green behaviours and wondrous work was entirely epitomised by this image and consequently captivated the eyes of many. Singer does not often sing her praises, but states them; although I think I toot her trumpet enough for the both of us.
Simply stating her way of life is a marvellous way of showing how easy it is to invite more mindful, environmentally friendly practices into our daily lives too. Favouring non packaged goods (or those which have recyclable packaging if not), over heavily plastic packaged items is hardly rocket science and is reaps many benefits..to oneself, ones environment and ones community etc. Amongst being a great coil for change,
Lauren is constantly updating her social platforms with a range of new and accessible ways for everyone to get involved too! So there is no excuse. Plus she set up her own zero waste laundry detergent company, runs her own package free shop in NY..and is my HERO!!! One busy lady.
If you arent already familiar with the glorious Ms Singer, then please acquaint yourself to her via trash is for tossers , her blog and where I loose 40% of my spare time.
